Share your experience of living with a visible difference

 Hi,
My name's Katie, I'm 19 and am at university in London. I was born with a cavernous haemangioma or strawberry mark on my right cheek and due to complications during my birth my birthmark became severely infected which lead to having over 10 operations before the age of two. I went on to have two more operations as a young
teenager and a course of laser surgery a few years ago.
Although my birthmark is now barely noticeable it is still a big part of my life and as part of my studies I have decided to use my own personal experience and the experience of others to create a research project on how facial disfigurement is viewed today but also how support groups, be it online or real-life are used to help
people such as me.So if any of you could let me know how websites such as these have helped you or if you attend support groups and how they effect your
 lives that' be great!
 Any feedback would be amazing!
 Thanks, Katie :)
