School

Welcome to the school section of iFace. You can read here what other young people with disfigurement think about school - good and bad - and how they deal with difficult situations (check out the forum for loads of great advice on how to beat the bullies). We'd like to hear from you too. Click on the 'add your story' button at the bottom of the green box on the right and send us an email - you can suggest new forum posts and FAQs too.

Note: Unfortunately, Changing Faces is currently unable to continue to provide its discussion forums. We are looking into alternatives to put in place as quickly as possible.

In the meantime, why not check out discussion forums on Facebook?

Do your friends understand you?

Sometimes I feel like my friends do, on a mundane level I guess, but others I dont.

My mates totally understand me. Im the kind of guy that is very up on himself. I think your friends and peers relate to you better is you give off a confident vibe and also it makes you more approachable to people you don't know. My friends totally get my craziness and know that I am not at all sensitive about my disfigurement and so if they want to make a politically incorrect joke by all means go for it, just dont expect me to go down quietly

sometimes my friends understand me, but sometimes my friends from this site understand me more whichis nice. I think my friends in school try their best to understand me but sometimes they just cant understand what its like.

The friends which understand me are the friends which know everything about me.

I have amazing friends, and i know they will always be there for me, no matter what.

One or two of them do. the rest wonder why im so self conscious and they get pissed off at me for it and they don't have a clue what it's like to live with a facial disfigurement

It's 50/50 really. I do have some really amazing friends who are really lovely and understand what I have and why I go into hospital, where as other friends of mine, (I agree with the comment above), that some of them don't understand what it's like living with a facial disfigurement. So they don't understand about it all and I can always tell that, even if I have been friends with them for years... but it cleary doesn't bother them too much, I think if i'm being me then that's all that matters, really!

i feel like all my friends and peers understand me. some, i have known all my life, since primary school, and obviously they know more about me than some of my other friends, who haven't known me as long, as i've only just met them a few months ago, in high school. they're all so supportive, and i love them!! :)
